Review: Little Tikes Construction Set & Doc McStuffins Interactive Toy

We were recently offered the chance to choose some toys to review from Argos. Argos have a huge range of boys and girls toys available here – it was very difficult to choose just one thing each for them, looking around the website has given me lots of good ideas for Christmas however!

Meg looked long and hard at the website and eventually settled on a Doc McStuffins Interactive Doc and Lambie. This is a fabulous toy for any Doc McStuffins fan, you can use Doc to check Lambie's heartbeat and make her laugh and talk. Doc also sings the check up song in full, which I now know the words to off by heart! In addition you get Doc's sparkly pink check up bag, with two sparkly tools.

Meg has had a lot of fun playing with this toy and her interest in it is still going strong. Doc is a lot heavier than I thought she would be but this has made her very robust, even Eli has been able to play with her without causing any damage! Lambie is lovely and soft and a perfect addition. After Meg's accident this summer reenacting positive experiences at the doctors is really important so I'm glad she chose this toy as we've been able to reinforce that not every trip to the doctor has to be a scary one.

For Eli I chose the Little Tikes Construction Set. He is a typical little boy and is a big fan of diggers and trains so this seemed like the perfect combination. When it arrived I couldn't believe the size of the box, it was huge! I got all the pieces out and looked in dismay. I am next to useless when it comes to building things and it seemed like an awful lot. Of course, I made the mistake of opening it in front of the kids so then I had to attempt to put it together and actually, it was much more straightforward than I thought. The majority of the pieces were actually the train track which Eli was able to build by himself.

This toy is of the standard you would expect from Little Tikes and is built to last. It is very sturdy and has been played with by lots of small children and still looks brand new. Eli loves transferring the boulders from the truck, to the crane and into the train. It is very easy for him to do making it the perfect toy to pull out when I need a cup of tea!

All in all, we have been very pleased with the product and I know we will get a lot of use from it.

I think both these toys would be perfect as Christmas gifts.
