Grabbing Some Fresh Air

Last weekend we didn't have much of an opportunity to get out and about.  On Saturday we visited my parents in Loughborough, returning late in the evening.  Sunday morning was spent recovering from our late night, before myself and Meg headed out to a birthday party and my Other Half took Eli swimming.  You could tell when we came out of the party at around 4pm, how much Meg was itching to get out and enjoy some fresh air.

There's an area on the way out of Southport, which is full of grassed over sand dunes.  It was only a 2 minute drive from where we were so we headed over there.  My Other Half (being more knowledgeable on these things!) informed me that the dunes have been allowed to grass over as they are eroding and the grass helps to stabilise them.  Whatever the reason, the kids loved running up and down the hills, exploring.

We even managed to fit in a little game of hide and seek amongst the long grass.  Well supervised by us of course!

It seemed to be a favourite spot with dog walkers too as they were out in their droves, even though it was freezing cold.

We didn't stay out for long but it was enough for Meg and Eli to burn off their excess energy and meant our bedtime routine was much happier, without them both bouncing off the ceiling.

I'm linking this post up with Coombe Mill's #countrykids linky even though it was only a short and sweet trip this time!
