Our Easter Weekend 2015

The long awaited Easter bank holiday saw us heading down to Loughborough, to stay with my parents for the whole 4 days. I was so looking forward to the trip; not just because James would be around for a blissful long weekend but because there’s just something so nice about being back home, even just for a short time.

On Friday we stopped off at the National Forest Adventure Farm for some egg hunting and farm fun. The weather was absolutely terrible but the kids didn’t seem to mind.  Both myself and James had horrible colds so it was great that we could just wander around and enjoy the farm whilst clutching hot drinks and know that Meg and Eli were going to be worn out by the end of the day.

We tried to step away from our phones and social media over the weekend, and just enjoy our time. It was a pretty full on weekend with lots crammed in and I’m sure we’ve come home feeling even more exhausted than before we went; it was a shame that James had to go back to work right away as there was no real recovery time. We spent last night collapsed on the sofa enjoying the first episode of Poldark. I know we are weeks behind everyone else, but how fab is it?!

Saturday was a real chill-out day; we pootled around town before spending the afternoon and evening catching up with some friends whilst my parents babysat Meg and Eli.  Sunday we went to church before having a lovely family Easter feast and the obligatory Easter Egg hunt.  Luckily the weather stayed nice(ish).

I bought a gorgeous little hunt set from Luck & Luck with signs and goodie bags and the buckets were last minute purchases when I realised I had completely forgotten about them!

Apparently the Easter Bunny was a little bit mean and hid the eggs slightly too well.  Oops.

We tried to stay away from giving chocolate eggs, the same as last year, so Meg was given a gorgeous little mug from M&S which she can use to drink her new favourite, tea (decaff of course) and Eli got his current favourite...superheroes.

After we'd all eaten far too much food, the boys took the kids up to the woods to burn some of the acquired calories off.  By this time the sun had started to shine and there was a real glimpse of beautiful weather on the horizon.

On Monday the weather was absolutely stunning.  We headed to Foxton Locks and had a wander around, trying out the little Easter hunt trail they had set up.

We had a brilliant weekend and I'm just sad that it wasn't longer.  At least the nice weather has decided to stick around so we can enjoy the rest of the holidays.  Even if James has to work!
