Gift Guide: What to buy for the man in your life...

Having just celebrated James' 29th birthday I know how difficult it can be to come up with a unique idea for birthday presents.  James falls into the category of man who says he 'doesn't mind' even though you know that actually, he does a bit.  He's also the kind of guy who will just go out and buy the things he wants when he wants them which makes the decision a whole lot harder!

I was recently sent a list of ideas for what you could buy the man in your life when you want to try something a little bit different; I have to say I will be storing some of these away for Christmas and James' birthday next year.

A course in something he wants to learn
A couple of years ago I bought James a cookery course for Christmas.  He went off to some remote country house and learned how to make some amazing dishes.  It was a double win as he got to learn something he had been wanting to for a while and now he thinks of himself as the chef of the house and loves any excuse to get in the kitchen and get creative. Bonus!  Other course ideas could be dancing (I personally would love to try out ballroom, which is a partnered dance of course), learning to play a musical instrument or maybe learning a new language.  You never known, discovering a new skill could help make the man in your life happier and more confident.

A life changer
Maybe the man in your life wants to get back into shape or maybe he wants to quit smoking; two habits which can be easy to keep putting off.  You could sign him up to a 6 week boot camp course, or purchase joint gym memberships if you want to get in shape; the majority of gyms run great classes which are a fantastic way to get back into shape and socialise.  I, for one, know that I would be more likely to go along and play a game of netball with a team than I would be to turn up twice a week to run on a treadmill...classes are definitely more motivating than working out alone.  When it comes to quitting smoking, it's a little trickier although many people have cited success through the use of e-cigs.  Companies such as MIST and Smokshop are good options for this.

An experience of a lifetime
Skydiving, scuba diving, bungee jumping - anything that your guy has expressed interest in before but has not had the money to do, or has been too afraid to do before, would make the ideal memorable gift. This is a memory that he will carry with him forever and always thank you for.

Something you can share together
Giving him something you can share is a great way to further your relationship and feel closer to each other. Find a fantastic activity you can do together - anything from a holiday abroad to an evening course.

Can you think of any other interesting and unique gift ideas?  I'd love to hear them!
