Shoulders, Shirts and Shops...#LittleLoves

What a strange week it has been; I have found myself floundering a little bit now the kids are both in school and I've got lots of free time on my hands but more on that later...

Read
I met a friend for coffee on Monday after I had dropped the kids off at school and we were talking about being an introverted parent and how, sometimes, it can be the hardest thing.  Later she sent me a link to this post and it just made me smile because I can totally relate.  I adore my children but sometimes, it is just them not me!

Watched
Being home alone now I have found myself with a bit too much time on my hands in between erm, school runs, working, keeping house and so on...so you think I would have had plenty of time to watch TV!  Sadly this is not the case so it is same old, same old for us this week.  The Great British Bake Off (we are loving Tamal) and a bit of Castle thrown in as well.  Although does anyone else think Paul is being incredibly harsh to Flora on GBBO week in and week out?!

Wore
I received the best thing in the post this week; an England rugby top.  Woo!  I am so excited for the start of the world cup...James probably not so much.  We also wore winter coats, because the mornings are definitely getting nippier.  It's that brilliant freshness that you only get with autumn mornings and I love it.  My favourite activity this week has been standing on the decking outside, enjoying the morning air whilst drinking a cup of tea and hoping that Meg and Eli are dressing themselves.

Heard
I was listening to a randomly generated playlist on Apple Music last week whilst I was cleaning (oh the excitement of my life...) and this song came on.  It just made me feel completely uplifted, and I have been listening to the rest of for King and Country's album this week.  Highly recommend it.

Made
I felt super proud of myself when we took a delivery for a wooden toy we are reviewing for a project we are working on with George at Asda and I got all the pieces out of the box fully intending to make it myself.  Turns out I did need a bit of help (mostly because pesky James had hidden all the screwdrivers I needed) but I 'made' this i.e. I put it together.  We have hidden it away for the weekend but I will be sharing some photos soon of the final product.  Watch this space.

And Lastly...
You know when you just feel like you've had a good week?  I can't put my finger exactly on it but I think it comes from thinking that this week was going to be hard with Eli being in school now and it just hasn't been.  I've kept myself busy and accomplished lots of little jobs around the house which I'd been putting off, I have been on the ball with completely freelance work and I even find time to sit and write some more on my current manuscript.

Although I have missed both Meg and Eli and the sound of the voices floating through the house, it's also wonderful to see how much Eli has taken to school, how Meg has fallen right back into the routine and to be able to sit down at my desk and work.

I hope that next week can be as enjoyable.

  1. It's been rather strange here without the kiddos too. I'm interested to see how your cafe and shop was received, it's just the sort of thing I'm looking for for Peanut's xmas present. Have a great weekend!

  2. Glad the kids have settled into school well. It's so quiet when they aren't around isn't it! Although it definitely makes getting everything done a lot easier. I think Paul's being harsh on Flora too - maybe he thinks she should win it so he's really pushing her. I love how her bakes turn out though, she's a complete perfectionist. Enjoy the rest of your weekend x

  3. The cafe looks amazing, I used to love playing cafes with my sister and we would have loved one of these as we used to just use a pillow! x
